FAQ
Common questions
Short answers before your first visit.
What happens at the first visit?
You talk with your doctor about the fall or whiplash event and how you have felt since. Your doctor then checks your balance, how your eyes follow a target and how your neck moves, and explains what was found. Plan on 45 to 60 minutes. Treatment starts that day only if you agree.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic care has risks, and your doctor explains them before any treatment. Soreness, stiffness or a headache can follow an adjustment. Rarely, neck adjustments have been linked to injury of an artery in the neck, which can lead to a stroke. If you have had a recent head or neck injury, we may leave neck adjustments out and suggest a physician first. You can say no to any part of care.
Will it hurt?
Exams and exercises can bring on soreness or dizziness, and we stop if they do. Adjustments are done with your consent, and we can change the technique or skip them. Tell your doctor at any point if something feels wrong.
Do you treat concussion?
No. We do not diagnose or treat concussion or any brain injury. A physician does. If you hit your head and have a headache that is getting worse, vomiting, confusion or unusual drowsiness, get emergency care. Once a physician has seen you, we can work alongside them on the neck and exercise side of your care.
How many visits will I need?
Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and reviews it with you as you go. We do not promise a number of visits or a result, and we tell you when a visit is no longer needed.
Do you take my insurance?
We bill most PPO plans and some others, and what a plan pays differs. Our front desk checks your benefits before your first visit. The How fees work page has the details.
What if I do not use insurance?
You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. We give you a written estimate before your first visit, and an itemized receipt after each visit that you can send to your plan.
Do I need X-rays?
Not always. We take X-rays only when medically necessary, and your doctor tells you why before taking them. If you already have images from another provider, bring them or ask us to request them.
What if I am seeing another provider?
That is common. Many patients see a physician or a physical therapist. With your written consent we share what we find with them, and we follow their advice about what is safe for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please call us as early as you can if you need to change a visit. Ask the front desk about our cancellation policy.
