Our scope

What we look at, and what we leave to your physician

After a fall or whiplash, a physician comes first. We look at how your neck and nervous system are working and help with the part chiropractic can help with.

  • Balance checks

We watch how you stand, step and turn, and note what changes from visit to visit.

  • Eye-movement checks

Following a moving target with your eyes shows how your head and neck work together.

  • How your neck moves

We look at how far and how smoothly your neck and upper back move.

  • Adjustments, when they fit

Spinal adjustments are one option. Your doctor explains the risks first, and you can say no to any part of care.

  • Exercises for home

Short, specific exercises with a written plan, reviewed at each visit.

  • Working with your physician

With your consent we share what we find with your primary care doctor or another provider.

Rivet does not diagnose or treat concussion or any brain injury. A physician does that.

What people tell us at the first visit

Some of these need a physician first. Ask us whether a visit makes sense for you.

  • Neck pain and stiffness

Turning to check traffic or look over a shoulder feels different than before.

  • Headaches

Headaches that started or changed after the event. A physician should see a new or severe one first.

  • Feeling off balance

Unsteady on stairs or in a crowd. If it is sudden or severe, see a physician first.

  • Trouble focusing

Screens, reading and busy rooms take more effort than they used to.

How we work

Look first, explain, then plan

The same three steps for every new patient.

  • Spine models with yellow nerves and red discs on a desk

    Look at the whole picture

We ask about the fall or the crash, how you have felt since, and who else is helping. Then we check balance, eye movement and neck motion.

  • A model of a human spine lies on a sheet of paper

    Explain what we found

Your doctor tells you what was found, what it does and does not mean, the options, the risks of each and what each would cost.

  • A man in a coral top stretches his hamstring on wooden steps

    Plan together

If you agree to care, you get a written plan and exercises for home. We review it as you go and tell you when a visit is no longer needed.
